Knowledge about the reading, writing and calculation within the written culture

Abstract
This work presents a part of the results of an investigation called “Knowledge about reading, writing and calculating young adults compared to lite racy”. The data presented here belong a multiple case study, which included three communities near the Rivera of Lake Pátzcuaro Michoacán: Santa Fe de la Laguna, municipality of Quiroga; The Manzanillal (cologne Enrique Ramírez), and the community of Canacucho, of Tenure Cuanajo, belonging to the municipality of Pátzcuaro. These communities have different cha racteristics not only in terms of location and geographical delimitation of cultural identity, also whith the use or not of the p’urhepecha language, craft prevailing in families, the organizational form of its inhabitants, among others. This paper proposes as descriptive contribution “knowledge of people intheir involvement with the written culture in context”. More than insertion levels in the written culture, this article attempts to describe some scenarios in which people operate on a daily basis.
