Grief for the unborn: an experience of the real
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper considers abortion a subversive manifestation of the feminine body, as something related to a woman´s experience that disorders the social and natural biological orders which have been imposed onto the uses of such body through and by discourses against and in favour of abortion ignited by the maternity ideal. It portrays a feminist conjecture that addresses the impossibility regarding the non-born mourning as an experience of the Real since it is a loss that does not work as the promoter of desire but as an impossible excess instead. An impossible excess that insists in a fight for its reinstating in the real life of woman who aborts, such as it is evidenced in the so called ‘anniversary depression’.
