Prevention of metabolic syndrome in undergraduate students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The self-report from first year students of Iztacala campus UNAM, assessed in two classes, suggested the presence of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS). Based on laboratory and anthropometry analysis which confirmed the incidence or risk in the 2008 class. A multidisciplinary preventive model for MetS was designed to face the detected issue. By using this approach with multilevel assessments, a strategy to identify the main problem, potential causes, effects, intervention areas and action topics was planned, and consequently
a preventive model with academic and inter-institutional impacts was organized. Accordingly, by identifying the main problem related to MetS, its potential causes and effects will optimize the use of institutional resources regarding care of the university student’s health.
